Amanda Brugel
(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a sleepy community on the part of Montreal called"the West Island. The West Island has a lot of diverse communities. Many who've never heard of it often mistake it for a separate island facing west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is commonly known as the place where she was born. However, she only resided there for a very short duration. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa the city of Ontario. She wanted to become professional, however due to an explosive expansion, she surpassed every dance partner she met. In an article in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. After I became too big for my male partners I stopped. The Brugel is one of the former dancers that turned to acting. Her teacher from high school was what pushed her into the right direction. Teacher who recommended she try to find a role in school's annual play. The audition was successful and she was chosen as Anne of Green Gables. It led to her receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. Since then, Brugel has been in over 60 productions both big and small. One of the most memorable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in Season 1 of the series, and only seen occasionally.
